A mysterious, mountainous Central Asian country—a land of nomads and vast grasslands with lush grass in the summer—Kyrgyzstan is blanketed in white in the winter! The cold, continental climate usually brings light, powdery snow. On this trip, we invite you to discover two remote valleys in the eastern part of the country, where we’ll spend the nights in yurt camps deep in the mountains. Each day, we’ll set out from our lodgings to explore wild valleys on skis. After skiing, we’ll enjoy a sauna and a hearty, hot dinner prepared by the local team.
Day 1: Transfer from Bishkek to Karakol—about a 7-hour drive
We’ll meet at the Bishkek airport in the morning. Our driver will be waiting for us there, and we’ll embark on a long drive to Karakol. We’ll drive along Lake Issyk-Kul, which is truly massive: 180 km long and 60 km wide! We’ll settle in for the night in Karakol and enjoy a well-deserved rest!
- Accommodations included: hotel or guesthouse in Karakol
- Meals at your own expense: breakfast and lunch
- Meals included: dinner
Days 2–3–4: Skiing from the Aksuu Yurt Camp (2,600 m)
After a short drive, we’ll take a snowmobile to our high-altitude camp, perched at 2,600 meters and about 10 kilometers from civilization. Pretty wild! We’ll have three days to explore the surrounding valleys on skis. In the evening, we’ll enjoy the sauna to relax and freshen up before savoring a hearty hot meal served
by the local team in the yurt dining hall. On Day 4, after skiing, we’ll head back down to the valley and drive to the village of Jyrgalan
- Accommodations included: 2 nights in a yurt in Aksuu and 1 night in a yurt in Jyrgalan
- Meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Days 5–6–7: Skiing from Jyrgalan (2,250 m) and from the high-altitude yurt camp (2,700 m)
After spending the night in Jyrgalan, we have the choice between skiing around the village or heading straight up to the high-altitude camp, about 11 km from the village. The schedule will be the same as in Aksuu: exploring the surrounding area on skis during the day and relaxing in the sauna in the evening! Day 7: After skiing, we’ll head back down to spend the night in the village of Jyrgalan.
- Accommodations included: 2 nights in a yurt at the Jyrgalan high-altitude camp and 1 night in a yurt in Jyrgalan
- Meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 8: Skiing from Jyrgalan and transfer to Bishkek
One last morning of skiing in this timeless setting, and then it’s time to head back to Bishkek, where we arrive in the early evening.
- Accommodations in Bishkek: not included
- Meals included: breakfast, lunch
- Meals at your own expense: dinner in Bishkek
Separation: At the airport, getting ready to fly back to Paris.
