Ski touring in the Queyras with Anaïs and Geoffrey: Châteaurenard and Sagnes Longues couloirs, sunshine and endless powder from start to finish!

We continue our thorough exploration of the couloirs of the Queyras, still with Anaïs and Geoffrey, with the added bonus of sunshine compared to yesterday! We don’t go much farther afield and stick with the Saint-Véran ski touring pass, which lets us add another lift-accessed descent to the day without breaking the bank...
So here we go again! We’re back on the slopes of Châteaurenard, but this time we push on to the couloir of the same name. Sylvain is also somewhere in the area, but he opts for the SW-facing slopes, which are in great condition too today. For us, it’s the north couloir. The wind has been busy overnight and the top of the couloir has been completely smoothed out, but it’s still pleasant to ski... Lower down, we find the usual powder again, although we still need to watch out for a few patches where the snow conditions change!
We put the skins back on in the Vallon du Longet and climb up to the Queyron. The wind has eased since this morning and things are starting to feel pretty good! From up there, we drop into the Vallon de Clausis via the SE-facing slopes, followed by a very short climb to the Col du Cornivier... The skiing isn’t quite as good due to the aspect, but it’s still far from bad!
Time for some pow under the Cornivier... even if there are one or two little traps hidden in there. Surprise!

The day isn’t over yet! We’re keen to head back and explore the Combe du Vel with a little more light than yesterday... The weather is beautiful, the wind has dropped... A perfect invitation to climb up to the Sagnes Longues.
A nice little break at the top, soaking up the sun—not bad at all.
Then we get on with the next part of the plan. First up, the central couloir, which is really good overall. Steep enough for Anaïs to throw in some nice little jump turns!
Then, as we come out of the couloir, it turns into total powder madness. The wind has completely spared this area. Yee-haw!
A fun evening at Les Gabelous to recharge our batteries before a well-deserved night's sleep!
