A freerando trip with great care, in my winter garden at the foot of the Écrins! I’ll draw on all my local knowledge and my instinct for finding the best snow conditions every day.
On the agenda: a new destination every day, chosen based on conditions. The ski lifts let us gain elevation quickly, before continuing on skins to find beautiful runs and secluded spots, far from the crowds. And if you feel like it, why not swap the lifts for A real day of ski touring, far from the resorts?
To ensure you recover properly between days on the slopes and enjoy hassle-free accommodations, you'll stay at "at the guide's place", in Our cozy vacation rental in Champcella, at the foot of the Écrins.
This trip is offered as an all-inclusive package in partnership with SERAC, which handles sales and the travel contract in accordance with the French Tourism Code.
Optional arrival at the gîte the evening before
You can arrive at the gîte the day before the trip starts (€75 supplement, including dinner, bed and breakfast). Check in any time from 4 pm, giving you time to settle in and find your bearings before dinner at around 7:30 pm.
There are no activities planned that day: simply enjoy a relaxed first evening before we get going the following morning. If I’m available, I’ll pop in to say hello and get to know you a little!
Day 1
After a hearty breakfast, we’ll ease into the trip by getting to know the group, sorting out equipment and making any final clothing adjustments before the fun begins! A day to find—or rediscover—your ski legs, with some time spent discussing risk management and avalanche safety equipment. Out on the mountain, of course!
Days 2 to 6
Each morning, we head out together to a new destination, chosen day by day according to the weather, snow conditions, and the group’s energy levels and expectations. Sometimes, you won’t find out where we’re going until that very morning!
This flexible approach lets us make more use of the lifts or earn our turns under our own steam, depending on how everyone feels. We can also spend a full day ski touring.
Six days gives us plenty of flexibility to make the most of a good weather window, explore a new resort, go ski touring or spend more time practising avalanche rescue. There’s also room to take it easy if your legs need a break: you’re on holiday, not entering a strongest-thighs competition!
Optional — Tailor-made trip length!
I offer trips lasting anywhere from 3 to 7 days—though we do agree on that beforehand! A shorter trip can suit your budget, schedule or fitness, while a longer stay gives you more time to explore, improve and find your feet with this style of skiing!
Choosing resorts for the freeride touring trip
We’re spoilt for choice in the region: Puy-Saint-Vincent, Pelvoux, Ceillac, Serre Chevalier, Montgenèvre, Vars, Risoul, Crévoux, Les Orres, Saint-Véran, Abriès, and even La Grave if conditions are right.
Accommodation
Every night, you’ll stay at the very comfortable Gîte des Voûtes, which I renovated myself using healthy, bio-based materials. In the heart of a peaceful mountain hamlet, you’ll enjoy simple, generous meals made with organic ingredients and comfortable beds to help you recharge for another day on the mountain!
