Off-piste skiing in Puy-Saint-Vincent with Maxence: deep powder in Narreyroux, lap after lap and a rather eventful end to the day!

Our session with Maxence has been a mixed bag, to say the least… After the fantastic day ofYesterday at the Rouya Pass, a change of scenery: the snow is back again this year… and it’s no joke!
Maxence is really fired up to “just” go off-piste today: leave the climbing skins at home and rack up the kilometers of downhill runs in the powder. That’s a plan I wouldn’t mind either!! When I arrive in Puy-Saint-Vincent this morning, 20 cm of fresh snow has already fallen. Things are looking pretty good! The resort is completely deserted, and the number of off-piste skiers out today is almost negligible. We’re not going to complain about that…
Early in the morning, we wander along the edges of the trails and through the woods near the resort—and there’s no shortage of them!
Then we quietly go to open it Narreyroux Off-Piste Around noon!! Since this morning, we must have gotten about 30–40 cm of fresh snow, and underneath that, well, it’s still pretty fresh, too!! A real powder party that we’re enjoying cautiously, carefully avoiding anything that’s too steep…
Same old, same old—off we went right back for two more equally wild runs, punctuated by a 3-star break at Maxence’s apartment, where all we had to do was stick our skis under the table, thanks to Aurélie’s wonderful hospitality! It’s worth more than all the restaurants in Puy put together!!
On the last run, we picked up a local at the bottom of Narreyroux who’d taken quite a beating on his last run—his shoulder was in bad shape—and it took us the rest of the afternoon to help him make his way back to civilization!
