Ski touring on Pointe des Marcelettes in the Queyras with Maxence: a scenic ridge ascent, a sheltered lunch stop and powder turns down one of its couloirs.

Still with Maxence today, and still in the Queyras, a great base for ski touring! After yesterday’s lovely spring snow on Pic du Cros, today I suggest looking for a different kind of snow on Pointe des Marcelettes. Thanks to a valuable tip from a friend, I know there’s a good chance of finding some leftover powder!
And anyway, the ascent of Pointe des Marcelettes alone is well worth the effort!
The summit has to be earned, but the reward is a splendid panorama and a sandwich stop on the grass, sheltered from the wind! Not too shabby! Lovely moments shared in good company.
I choose one of the Marcelettes couloirs for our descent, where Marie and her client have beaten us to part of the route. What a terrible punishment, having to ski in other people’s tracks!!
Come on, we’ll have to soldier on. More of the same tomorrow!
