Introductory Ice climbing Ceillac

I meet Adrien and Marion in Ceillac for their first taste of ice climbing: we start on the right branch of the Y, then tackle the left branch with Adrien.

Adrien finishes an ice step on the left branch of the Y in Ceillac, between trees and a rock wall.

Adrien and Marion came last summer to try their hand at mountaineering during a 3-day course. They're back today to take their first steps on ice.

I suggest we take a trip to Ceillac, where the Y is in great condition.

It's quiet today—there are only two or three rope teams far ahead of us.

After a brief explanation of the technical basics, we head straight to the right-hand Y to put it into practice. The well-carved ice is perfect for a gentle introduction, but it’s still a bit of a challenge for the arms!

Marion is thrilled with this first experience, and I get the feeling that Adrien wouldn't mind a little more ice cream!!

After lunch, we got back to it with Adrien on the left branch, tackling one last, more challenging pitch.

Adrien termine un ressaut du Y de gauche à Ceillac, sur la glace entre les arbres et le rocher.

Congratulations to both of you!
