Two days of freeride skiing in La Grave and Alpe d’Huez with a lively crew: fresh snow, Chancel couloirs and plenty of good turns away from the pistes.

After last year’s freeride weekend, the gang is growing again! A second guide certainly won’t be too much! This year, the snow isn’t quite as plentiful, but a timely snowfall the day before makes a huge difference! Just what we needed…
Off-piste skiing in La Grave and the Chancel couloirs
The good thing is that in January, midweek and without a powder alert, La Grave is pretty quiet! We spend the whole day making our tracks in 10 centimetres of powder! We also pay a little visit to the Chancel couloirs, Banane and Patou… Without missing out on a good mountain restaurant, of course!
Good turns in Alpe d’Huez
The next day, feeling that we’ve explored most of La Grave’s potential for this particular visit, we move over to Alpe d’Huez… A good choice today, with a little more fresh snow than in La Grave! By playing with aspects and finding areas sheltered from the wind, we discover some excellent skiing and a little untracked couloir! Of course, Alpe d’Huez doesn’t have La Grave’s charm: this is a proper ski factory! But once we’re off-piste, we forget all about that!
