With Tor, Karl and Eddi, we mix off-piste skiing and ski touring in the Hautes-Alpes: Serre Chevalier, quiet valleys and powder turns at Les Orres.

A change of scene: I leave Manu and his large tribe to meet three Norwegian companions from last year’s off-piste day in Serre Chevalier: Tor, Karl and Eddi.
This year, we’re spending six days together. The idea is simple: good skiing, mixing off-piste runs and touring, away from the crowds, with good French food and wine along the way!
My Norwegians give me complete freedom and trust to combine it all as well as possible.
Day 1 — Off-piste skiing in Serre Chevalier
For the first three days, we stay reasonably close to civilisation. First comes a day of off-piste skiing in Serre-Che to revisit the classics, including a descent of Les Guibertes all to ourselves!
Day 2 — Freeride touring from a small resort
Next, I suggest discovering a tiny resort without so much as a chairlift for a day of freeride touring.
This mixture of touring and off-piste skiing gives us four wonderful descents through valleys with hardly any tracks. It’s only day two, and we’ve reached nirvana!
Keeping this standard up all week won’t be easy!
Day 3 — Powder at Les Orres
We head to the Embrunais for a day at Les Orres. Another festival of powder tracks, a welcome restaurant break and a final valley that seemed to be waiting just for us!
Not so bad!
