First powder and early-season ski touring in the French Alps: fresh snow, sunshine and friends… the hard life of a mountain guide!

While the last apples are falling from the trees and the yellow vests are turning even yellower, winter is quietly settling over the Alps… An introduction like that leaves even me speechless.
Those killjoys and malicious tongues who think mountain guides spend the quiet season taking it easy should come and experience our gruelling off-season routine. They’d soon realise just how much dedication it takes to stay close to the action, tirelessly retracing all those slopes that every fresh snowfall wipes clean again…
Braving clouds of powder exploding in your face, bursts of sunshine dazzling your eyes, gangs of friends laughing their heads off… Eating the same dried fruit, the same chunk of saucisson… Checking every new delivery and making absolutely sure the merchandise is up to standard!!
In short, we’re working our socks off to make sure everything is ready for the season ahead!
