Hautes-Alpes Freetouring Trip – 4 to 7 Days – “Stay with the Guide!”
A freerando trip with great care, in my winter garden at the foot of the Écrins! I’ll draw on all my local knowledge and my instinct for finding the best snow conditions every day.
On the agenda: a new destination every day, chosen based on conditions. The ski lifts let us gain elevation quickly, before continuing on skins to find beautiful runs and secluded spots, far from the crowds. And if you feel like it, why not swap the lifts for A real day of ski touring, far from the resorts?
To ensure you recover properly between days on the slopes and enjoy hassle-free accommodations, you'll stay at "at the guide's place", in Our cozy vacation rental in Champcella, at the foot of the Écrins.

Choose your stay length: 4 to 7 days

Day 0
Arrive at the lodge anytime from 4pm, with plenty of time to settle in and get comfortable before dinner at around 7:30pm.
There’s no activity planned for today: simply enjoy a relaxed first evening before the trip starts the following morning. Depending on my availability, I’ll drop by to say hello and get to know you a little!
Day 1
After a hearty breakfast, we’ll kick things off by getting to know the group, gathering our equipment and making those last clothing adjustments before the fun begins! A day to find your ski legs again, while discussing risk management and avalanche safety equipment. Out on the mountain, of course!
Days 2 to 4
Each morning, we’ll head to a new destination, chosen according to the weather, snow conditions, everyone’s energy levels and what the group wants to do. Sometimes, you won’t find out where we’re going until that very morning!
The flexible format lets us choose between more lift-assisted skiing and more climbing under our own steam, depending on the day’s motivation. We can also spend a full day ski touring.
Optional days 5, 6 and 7 — Why choose a longer stay?
I offer stays of different lengths to suit you — we do agree on that beforehand, though! A longer stay gives you time to explore more, improve your skills and get comfortable with freerando, without trying to fit everything into four days. Extra days give us more flexibility to make the most of a good weather window, discover another resort, go ski touring or develop your avalanche rescue skills. And to take a breather if your legs need one: holidays aren’t a thigh-strength contest!
Choosing resorts for the freerando trip
We’re spoilt for choice in the area: Puy-Saint-Vincent, Pelvoux, Ceillac, Serre Chevalier, Montgenèvre, Vars, Risoul, Crévoux, Les Orres, Saint-Véran, Abriès and even La Grave if conditions are good.
Accommodation
Every evening, you’ll stay at the very comfortable Gîte des Voûtes, which I renovated myself using healthy, bio-based materials. Set in a peaceful mountain hamlet, it offers simple, generous meals made with organic ingredients and comfortable beds to recharge for another day in the mountains!
