Pow Pow Day at Pointe des Avers, Queyras

Ski touring around Rocher Blanc and Pointe des Avers: 2000m of vertical, untouched bowls, couloirs and excellent powder on north-facing slopes.

Even today, we’re choosing to stay away from the easterly wind that has been blowing near the Italian border. Conditions on the north face are perfect right now, and the snowpack is well-stabilized—but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take precautions.

If you stray just a little from the well-trodden trails, you’ll find entire valleys and couloirs that haven’t been touched by anyone. We had a blast around Rocher Blanc and then at Pointe des Avers, with excellent snow from top to bottom!

After climbing 2,000 meters, we'd love to keep going, but our thighs are telling us to stop!
